This happened, in part, because people 'don't feel safe' getting out of their cars when pulled over. Poor cop doesn't feel safe with you sitting in your car, able to reach for who knows what as he is walking to within point blank range.

You've seen it three or four local cops for a traffic ticket. That is not "Just them cops gettin' t'gether to yack" or "they're so dumb how many does it take to spell speeding". It is anti-litigation procedures. They cannot use the force necessary by themselves so they make policy to have 'sufficient back-up' at ANY cause. Why did the Texas Rangers send one man and have an awesome arrest record? Because they were authorized to use deadly force at their own discretion.

When (or better put if) we come to our senses and give more discretion to our law enforcement it will take a while to 1 get the officers to use that authority fully and 2 for the criminal element to figure out that they need to obey when an officer says hands up. That while will be bloody and the courts need to stand firm, venerate the officers sued and ding the lawyers for frivolous law suits.

When we find a bad egg in the force we need to prosecute fully and put him on deathrow if he murdered someone ... NOT change the law "So this won't ever happen again", nothing will ever guarantee that.

Folks, let your state representatives know you want them to enact laws that will allow the 'Men In Blue' to do their jobs. The unions will have a solution ... Probably something like "two patrolmen in each unit and units running in pairs only".

Back at IT

I have been gone for a year. Life is being relative-ized, the destruction of life is being justified, or vilified depending upon the "Cute-ability Factor" of the victim or the destroyer.

A Fetus is a gooey disgusting unwanted lump of flesh unless it is Baby Conner. A woman shoots and kills a man accused of molesting her son In front of the judge, she gets a light sentence and out early. Granted these are both California cases but you all can remember some of the same. It is all over the States. "Hate Crimes" is white men charged others not for cross race violence.

In the US we still officially hold that the taking of another's life is criminal, except in self defense, even Oregon won't let doctors actually do the deed. The state sponsored persecution is covered in 'Law' in China, Saudi Arabia and the like. Even the Palestinian Authority gives minor official lip service to "catching the bomb makers". All of these are wrapped up in something bigger than the individuals involved.

The Groningen Protocol is solely selfish. Power for the doctors and convenience for the survivors.

More later,
Steve

Up-Date 12-2-04 noonish

This is the outcome of relying on the government for those things that we should be relying on God for. We abdicate to government those things that WE are responsible for, like helping the poor, then we cannot recover without a serious struggle.

Folks want 'things' to be easy and it is easy to have the government take care of you. This is the mistake the Israelites made in asking for a king, not relying on God but wanting to rely on a government. As we put government in place of God, it takes on more and more responsibilities to make life easier for it's citizens. The Groningen Protocol says, in effect, "You don't have to make this hard choice, we will make it for you." God is compassion and government has no compassion. Compassion helps people in spite of their circumstances government cannot do that, it can only address the circumstances.

Government has become a god it is not truly governing it is parenting, taking the place of God the Father. God has unlimited resources, government does not. God set things up so that import export taxes would take care of true governing, in order to help anyone government needs to assess other taxes the only place to find more is its citizens. Thus starts the spiral; the more taxes levied the more people that need help and government grows.

More later
Steve

Hard Right into the fray

This is from a guy I'd trust with my kids, my wife and my life. Poor liberal that mean man kept attacking and Johnny had a hard time getting back up on his feet.

In Kerry's defence, I do understand the liberal positions on some issues better now, so don't be suprised if some of the MSM say he did ok.

President Bush batted 1000 tonight with one walk. Diplomacy and policy are the job of civilians "I will do what the generals believe we need to do" is abdicating the direction the military requires from the CiC. The military would have pounded Al Sadr and his 'militia' into dust months ago, but diplomacy gave that option back to the interim governor, now our allies have greater strength and more authority with the Iraqi people.

General Shinseki stated President Bush's policy on troop strength very well, What troops the commanders need to do the assigned tasks. He also showed the reason civilians make larger policy. To OCCUPY Iraq the way we occupied Germany would take a larger force, that is not what we are doing.

Lebanon was a volatile place when we got there. We went in as a dampening rod with a sever defensive position with a small force. We thought we were breaking up a school yard fist fight and got stuck with a knife. In Iraq we came ready for ANYTHING including chemical weapons. And we have policies to deal with anything as well, not with a French veto hanging over our heads.

Then Kerry says he doesn't know what the situation will be in Jan. but he has a plan that will work. He just intimated that running will be his plan to "make certain that our troops are protected."

With his regard for the Iraqi people " I will hunt down and kill the terrorists, and I will make sure that we are successful" probably means John Kerry will attack WW II style everything in the Suni Triangle. If that were to happen we would loose all the political gains made and loose that much more then we would need the half million troops.

"But we wouldn't let them just fritter away." We had no choice it wasn't our call any more, with France, Germany, and Russia wanting to not have to pay the "Food for Oil" surcharge, and not wanting to spend the extra bucks to hide their shipments, it was just a matter of time before they got enough votes to lift the sanctions over our heads.

"If I'd been president, I'd have wanted the same threat of force." This is a bit more of his underlying strategy showing; I want to be able to threaten them and the WILL comply. He mentioned it during the debate of the NBB "that we would EVEN CONSIDER using." stating that he would never even consider using the ones already in stock. This is the strategy of a 'repeating, threatening parent' You've seen them "if you don't stop I'm gunna" ten times in the grocery store, and that is just on aisle one, the poor child gets yelled at but never learns to do what is right.

We didn't need to take down Libya we call Sadam's bluff and Kadafi folded. Iran is showing all it's cards and drawing furiously to in hopes of getting that A-bomb trump in hopes that it will keep American tanks out of the fight. We are fighting with freedom though instead of firepower. It worked with USSR and with a free democratic Iraq on it's border it stands a good chance here.

Steve

FRENCH ARMS MARKET

Chirac calls for lifting arms ban on China
"adding it no longer reflected present day realities."
